It is a type of marital union where the bride and groom are primarily selected by family members such as the parents .

Types :

1.Fully arranged marriage : 

It is a marriage where boy and girl are selected by parents or other relatives .They hardly know each other before marriage .After marriage they start to know each other.Love is developed after marriage .

 

2.Arranged cum love marriage :

It is a marriage where boy and girl are selected by parents or other relatives but before marriage they meet multiple times and try to understand other each other .Love is developed slowly between them and they think they can go ahead for marriage. 

Advantages of Arranged marriage :

1.Higher sense of security :

It is normally arranged by the parents, they try to ensure that it works and are willing to render all sorts of support .

2.The expectation level:

Emotional and general expectation from partner is low. It will start building along with time but at the initial stages it is low…Chances of fights would be less due to emotional expectations.

3.Social compaibility :

You don’t just marry your partner, you marry his or her whole family. Your parents look after the prospective partner’s cultural background, educational qualifications, social status and how well you would be able to adjust in the new family, which helps to make your married life smoother and comfortable . 

4.Marriage Not get boring early :

Marriage won't get boring early because of initial attraction turning into love after marriage.Curiosity to know each other is high. Girl and Boy usually give so much attention to each other which is good for building successful relationship. Sometimes that attention makes you feel special too.

5.More chances of successful marriage :

It is based on mutual trust and understanding rather than 'love at first sight'. In an arranged marriage, commitment is what brings the two people together and love gradually blossoms. So, commitment is the strongest advantage for those who are going for an arranged .Many people opt for an arranged marriage because divorce rate is very low in comparison to other types of marriage.

Disadvantages of Arranged marriage :

1.Not get to know more about partner :

When you meet someone for the first time with the intention of marriage you both try so hard to impress each other. Your standards are higher and you are trying to evaluate each other.You may not know other's hobby,likes ,passion and thinking about you.

2.Arranged marriage can be stressful :

Spending the rest of your life with one  person may be  stressful because you don't know if you are making the right decision .You meet this person for a few times and you must say yes or no to getting engaged or just getting into a relationship with the intention marriage .

3 .Arranged marriage can lack passion :

Because the relationship is formal from the start ,you may not develop passionate feelings for the partner .Sometime love grows after marriage, but even then it doesn't usually reach up to the intense love you experience otherwise .

4. Taking divorce is difficult :

Because it is arranged by both side parents and other relatives too ,if something wrong happens between partners and becomes impossible to live together then it is very difficult to take divorce .Parents pressure is so much that they cant take divorce .They are forced to live together .
